Sunday, June 28, 2026 — Global 100K Day #2

Can you walk 100,000 steps before midnight?

80 kilometres. One day. No shortcuts.

Pick your distance, 10K to 100K steps. Walk it anywhere on Earth. Prove you finished. Join the club.

The Challenge

The simplest hard thing you'll ever do.

Once a month, the club picks a day. You pick a number (the most steps you've ever done in one day) and you go get it before midnight.

  1. 1

    Pick your tier

Six tiers, 10K to 100K steps. Start where you are.

  2. 2

    Walk it before midnight

Anywhere on Earth. Your city, your route, your pace.

  3. 3

    Prove it

Screenshot your steps. Claim your badge. Light up your city on the Claim Board.

"Honestly we were talking about it — when do you just go out for a big walk? Not to get somewhere, but the walk being the point. It was really fun"

Morgana C. — 25K, Toronto

The Founder

I'm Graeme.

2019: my friends bet me at a bar in Osaka that I couldn't walk 100,000 steps before midnight. They were right — I failed. Twice. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Four years later, I finally did it on my honeymoon. Then I did it again.

Now I'm doing this every month. Turns out the best ideas, the clearest thinking, and the best sleep of your life are all hiding behind a really long walk.

Questions

Fair questions.

Do I really have to walk 100,000 steps?

No. Six tiers, starting at 10K. That's a distance plenty of people cover by accident. 100K is the summit, not the entry fee.

Where does it happen?

Anywhere on Earth. Your neighbourhood counts. A trail counts. A new city counts. Treadmills don't.

How do I prove I did it?

A screenshot from Strava, Garmin, or Apple Health showing your steps and the date. The thresholds are exact: 99,800 steps is a brilliant 75K-tier day, not a 100K. Full rules here.

Does it cost anything?

Signing up is free. Walking is free. The blisters are complimentary.

What do I get for it?

Every verified walk earns a custom badge with the tier you hit and your name on it. You also appear on the leaderboard, depending on how you fared. Also, an infinitely recyclable 'fun fact' when you need it.

Is there an app?

In development right now: automatic step sync, friends, and a collective walk to the Moon. Sign up above and you're first in line when the beta opens.

Why the space theme?

Because we're walking to the sun. Check out the Journey page, or see To the sun. Seriously, you will likely not regret the 73 seconds.

Walking 100,000 steps probably won't change your life. But maybe it will. Why not find out for yourself?
